Answer: Charlotte NC is a beautiful city with easy access to the Mountains (think Asheville) and the Beaches of North Carolina as well as South Carolina. So, you're in New York or New Jersey and asking this question, "Is Charlotte a good place to live?". Yes, for many people wanting to leave the hard winters and high taxes in New York, Charlotte has become a great place to relocate to. One thing I love to point out to folks wanting to move to Charlotte is the proximity to the beaches. Not only is Charlotte close to the mountains of North Carolina, but she's also just a few hour's drive to many excellent Atlantic Ocean beaches. North Carolina? How about Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach, Oak Island, Bald Head Island, Topsail Island, and those amazing Outer Banks destinations (a bit farther from Charlotte). South Carolina? Start at Myrtle Beach and head south! Kiawah Island and Seabrook, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, and my favorite is also one of the largest islands on the East Coast, Hilton Head SC (I moved to Charlotte from HHI).
Having a great international airport like Charlotte Douglas International Airport - CLT makes Charlotte one of the best places to live in North Carolina. On a trip to Europe last year, Patty and I flew from CLT directly to Amsterdam and flew back on a direct flight from Paris. Wow. And then, there's the regional airport in nearby Concord known as the Concord-Padgett Regional Airport with cheap and easy flights to a number of popular destinations. We had a great experience last year with a direct flight to the Florida panhandle for a few days.
