Rent vs. own a Charlotte NC home is being asked a lot lately. Is this the right time for me to move from renting my home to making a purchase? Great question and the answer is not cut and dry. “Should I buy a house?” or “Is now the right time to buy a house?” Here in Charlotte, the market is hot and interest rates have stayed at historic lows. So buying a house is quite appealing especially in the light of interest rates starting to tick up. 

Purchasing a house is of course, one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll make. The first thing you need to assess is what you can afford. Look at your income, expenses and job stability. So another question comes up, “Is the purchase of a house a responsibility I’m ready to take on?” And then, this one of course, "Should I rent vs. own a Charlotte NC home?".

In the video below, USAA gives some great insight on whether to continue to rent a home, or to go ahead and purchase. Such as, “How long will I live in the house?” Some people say that if you will live in a house for five or more years you might consider buying. Even house the Charlotte real estate market is now showing appreciation of home values, the last few years haven’t been pretty. Plus, Fort Mill and Rock Hill, SC are also on the rise.
